Enabling Field Service Management for Forming Machines (Food Processing) over OPC UA Protocol

The customer is a leading industrial food processing equipment manufacturer with a global network of sales and service locations.

Current Setup:

The cost to maintain customer machines was extremely high which resulted in affecting the AMC business.

Requirements :

The customer wanted to monitor the entire fleet of machines on a single platform for field service management.

The customer had a clear vision to bring in Innovation at the service level with a single platform for end customers to visualize and monitor the processes and to drive additional business revenue through subscription offering.

Deployment :

Thingstel successfully completed the development and implementation of the set up in one of the customer locations where a gateway device was setup to communicate with the standard machines over OPC UA Interface.

Thingstel proposed its standard modules with some customization on the reporting.

Key Benefits :

The customer was able to track machines onboarded on the platform and monitor the critical vitals and set thresholds as required from a service perspective.

Customer also observed incremental income by joining more AMC agreements and reduction in the overall cost, prompting a saving up to US$ 3,50,000 assessed each year.
